When, where, and how are classes held?

Classes run from late September through May on Thursday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. All classes are held in person at the Boylston Schul-Verein in Walpole, MA. We do not offer remote/online options, as we believe students learn best and have more fun in a classroom setting.

No. All BSV Adult German Language School classes are 100% in-person in Walpole, MA.

What is the cost of tuition?

What is included in the tuition?

Tuition convers instruction for the full 30-week session. Books are an additional $105.

What if my BSV membership application is still pending when I register?

If your membership status is pending, contact the AGLS committee (AGLScommittee@germanclub.org) before registering. We can assist you in holding your spot or completing registration at the member rate while your application is processed.

What levels do you offer?

Classes align with CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standards without formal testing requirements:  A1.1 Beginner IA1.2 Beginner IIA2.1 Beginner IIIA2.2 Beginner IVB1 IntermediateB2/C1 Intermediate / Advanced

How do I know which level to choose?

We offer a quick 10 question placement test to recommend the level to be placed in. Additionally we have these options:Take the free online Hueber Placement Exams linked on the site.  If you are still unsure or have prior experience, we can connect you with our placement specialist.We offer flexibility at the start of the school year if you need to adjust levels. Take the Placement Test here.

Are textbooks required?

Yes. Books cost approximately $105, and most students use the same books for two full calendar years. Books can be purchased at the time of registration.

Can I sit in on a class before enrolling?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Prospective students are welcome to visit on any Thursday evening. Please contact us (AGLScommittee@germanclub.org) in advance so we can arrange an introduction with a teacher.

What if I miss classes or need a refund?

Accepted Answer

We do not offer reimbursements for missed classes or mid-year withdrawals. However, our teachers share class notes, materials, and homework assignments so you can stay on track.
